Have you ever hit a time in your life when a major setback has caused you to question who you are? If so, you’re not alone. The death of a close one, the loss of a job, the end of a significant relationship—these are events that can make you feel disconnected from your true essence.
Whether you’re working to get past a major setback or simply striving to change your life for the better, it isn’t enough to hope for change.
To be the person that you aspire to be and achieve the level of success you desire, you need to establish a purpose and a vision for your life and to set worthy goals for yourself. You may need to re-program your mind and make a significant shift in your self-image, beliefs and habits.
Discover Your Purpose
Your purpose is like an internal guidance system. It directs your thoughts and actions and focuses them to create the life you desire. It makes you feel “right”.
If you don’t have a purpose, you can feel like you’re living a “hit and run” life. You hurry from point to point trying one thing and then another in an attempt to make your life what you want it to be. But without a purpose to guide you in your efforts, you’re just spinning your wheels and tiring out. You can feel like you aren’t really getting anywhere. You may feel stuck, bored, disconnected from what is going on in your life.
To discover your purpose, start by looking at those activities you love, believe in and are good at; follow your passion. Look for things you would do whether you were paid or not. Think about those times you were so wrapped up in something that the hours flew by almost unnoticed. This is where you find your purpose.
Create Your Vision
Once you’ve found your purpose, how do you express it? By creating and maintaining a vision.
Vision is the strategy behind the fulfillment of your purpose. You accomplish this strategy by creating short-term goals to keep you on course. Think about this process just like climbing a mountain. Your purpose is to reach the top of the mountain. Vision is much like a plan or map. It’s the direction you will travel and the terrain you will navigate on your journey
Set Worthy Goals
To implement your vision, you need to set short-term goals. Goals are the individual steps that get you to the next level. Then you stop and take a look at the map again.
The whole process of setting and achieving goals can have a very positive and significant impact on our lives. Goals should be tangible, measurable and achievable but not too easy.

Examine Your Belief Systems
To achieve your purpose, you will probably need to examine the belief systems that dwell deep within you.
Those beliefs determine the extent to which you can tap into your potential and grow. If our beliefs are limiting, our growth will be restricted, and we most likely won’t move forward towards achieving our goals.
In fact, our minds will automatically create reasons why we can’t accomplish them. However, we can choose to believe that our goals can be achieved. If the mindset is right, it is easier to find the persistence we need to take us on the path to accomplishment.
A worthy goal is one you strive for that you have never accomplished before. It must be the kind of goal that challenges you, makes you delve down deep into your core to discover your potential and your creative abilities.
As your self-image, beliefs and habits begin to change, you’ll begin to realize that you have far greater potential to succeed than you initially realized.
If you can align your personality and attitude – your thoughts, feelings and actions – with your purpose and vision, you can proceed at things you previously thought were impossible for you.
